OUR HISTORY
BNE first opened in 2001 and was originally called Holy Spirit Northside Private Emergency Centre – as it opened simultaneously with Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital. It was the first private emergency department to open in Brisbane and was developed by emergency medicine pioneer, Dr Phillip Kay.
The centre’s name was changed to Brisbane Northside Emergency Centre in December 2008 to reflect the geographic coverage of the centre and to make it clear to patrons that the Centre was not just for patients of the Hospital.
